Presenting mission project in Uganda: Building Lighthouse of Hope Bible College and Healing Hands School of Nursing.
About a year and a half ago Indigenous Pastor and overseer of 9 churches in Uganda and Cele Beckwith-Revitz who is President of Lighthouse of Hope for the Nation, Inc. Ministry were discussing the needs of the area and what God would have them do next. The lack of nurses became even more apparent during COVID and the need for trained ministers of the Gospel has been long standing. Property in the countryside near Luwero in Uganda was available and purchased. Last year they were able to get blueprints drawn to apply for permits to build and discover what would be required for the nursing school.
The government was cooperative in getting out to see what was there and to giving permits if qualifications would be met. The nursing school was to be he first undertaking so that it could not just begin to educate nursing students but so tha the community might begin to benefit. The goal was to start with the nursing school which required establishing a clinic and a birthing c enter for student to work in and learn in and to have thew classrooms available evening for Bible College student to get their start as well.
When the community discovered that the ground was broken and the project was begun and that it would include a clinic and birthing center, families sent their sons to help with the work because up to this time women even with high risk pregnancies had to take a 30 mile ride on a Boda-boda (motor cycle taxi) to get to the nearest hospital for safe delivery. Not only did the team use the labor of the sons but paid them a daily wage which really touched the hearts of the community with the love of Christ being shown to them. At this time the buildings needed to start are up and ready for electric and windows and flooring and the finishing that is necessary for use. The cost to get it up and running from this point is another $175, 000. The ministry here has already sown approximately $150,000 in this project as well as a clinic project closer to the capital city in a poor area.
The good news this week is the well that has been being dug has reached depth and is producing water. Good clean water which needs a generator and pump to get to the buildings but which is already giving out hand pumped water to the community. Again the community is being blessed and touched by the hand of God.
The next area that is special on our hearts and very important to reaching those in need is Casa Hogar which is an orphanage offering a new dawn to children that are orphaned or throw away kids in Tamaulipas State in Mexico.
With this second, and growing into third generation ministry comes tremendous needs to feed, clothe, house and provide care and education to these children as well as reach the community for Christ. We have seen children’s lives transformed from sad and angry withdrawal to kids that sing and dance before the Lord and are growing in love with Him as they experience His love.
The ministry has now planted 2 churches, one in Nuevo Padilla and one in Victoria which also is housing a Bible College. God has opened doors to start a Christian TV channel also and we are transmitting Spanish sermons from our Spanish speaking services here in US as well as from the churches in Mexico.
It is a joy to see what God is doing but of course it comes with a price tag and funds have been sparse. We are very grateful for the recent donation of $5000 which will be used to meet so many needs and has Pastor Greg very uplifted by the generosity and the provision of God which was so needed at this time.
The third area that we are involved in is to support the reaching of the millions of people who have never heard the gospel in India where with the current leadership, it is illegal to preach the Name of Jesus publicly. We have planted indigenous missionaries there in three states who have to use extreme caution. One was recently beaten nearly to death for sharing Jesus publicly .
But as the first disciples they will not be stopped but are using homes and outside areas to preach and to raise up new preachers. In this we are helping by sponsoring a Bible Training program offering certificate to these young pastors. Our representative there is teaching from curriculum we have written and sent to give them solid foundational truths on which to stand and to teach the word from a solid base. I have both written some of the curriculum and have been able to teach classes via zoom to encourage them and our brother there is translating. Knowing we love them and support them means so much as they work in such a persecuted atmosphere.
The new Indian pastors and their families also need financial support to be able to travel and to feed their families. We send what we can but it needs to be more as the Lord provides. We are trusting that Gos will touch hearts to help here also. He will get it to us as He knows He can get it through us. We pray that He also can get it through many and will bless them also.
Thank you so much for your interest in what God is calling us to do. Missions is our heart and reaching the lost is certainly the heart of God. He came to seek and save the lost.
This is being brought to you for your prayerful consideration of how our churches might be able to help. It is good soil to sow good seed and we are already grateful for anything you can do, for your prayers and for any suggestions. Thank you.
